Khasab is one of the splendid locations of the Middle East. Khasab is the capital city of Musandam. An exclave of Oman, Musandam is the northern part of the Arabian Peninsula. United Arab Emirates separates Musandam from rest of Oman. Khasab is a calm village which has mostly fishing as their occupation. It gives a beautiful and scenic view of Persian Gulf and the strategically famous Strait of Hormuz. Khasab has a mountainous terrain and Graded roads have been laid across the mountains to make it accessible. By road it takes 10 minutes to reach Khasab from Khasab airport and 3 hours from Dubai airport, while it’s a 50 minutes flight from Muscat over the fjords. Musandam can also be reached by sea. During the road ride you can watch the cultures and traditions of Khasab’s fishermen and the Bedouin. You can share the early morning busy lifestyle of the fishing harbor. Khasab has an Old Portuguese fort which has been restored recently and the neighborhood Qadah village has historical importance with rock carvings which were prehistoric.
Khasab or Musandam is abundantly rich with sheltered fjords. Many are connected to the mainland only with narrow cliffs. You can experience a thrilling day by cruising along these fjords on our traditionally and culturally decorated Omani Dhow. You can rest comfortably on rich and cushioned furniture on the Dhow and enjoy the scenic beauty of the fjords. The trip along the fjords of Musandam on the Dhows gives you a deep knowledge into the landscape of Musandam. These natural fjords have given Musandam a second name as “The Norway of Arabia”. The cruise on the Dhow also offers you a pleasant ride into the Strait of Hormuz and explores villages through the 16km fjord of Khor. During the ride, the Dhow is anchored at different and important places like the Telegraph Island. You can swim in the clear waters and snorkel around. If you are lucky, you can even get to see dolphins. On the dhow a buffet lunch, snacks, refreshment drinks and mineral water will be provided.
